Oliver Plunkett St, Cork, Ireland
A really effective technique for Street Photography is to find a scene that you think has potential and pray that something good happens within the time that you are waiting.
On a photo walk around Cork city I saw this window dresser who, by the nature of what she does, was showing her back (and her backside) to the street on a regular basis. I just needed the right guy to come a long and, hopefully try to catch a quick glimpse, and I was ready to wait!
During the ten minutes or so that I stood here quite a number of people walked by, none of whom gave her even the sneakiest of glances. And then, and then… just as I was about to give up all hope, I spotted this young man walking slowly towards the window. Just as he reached the edge he took a quick look left. Gotcha!!!
It was only later, while reviewed the shot in the computer, that I spotted that I had actually caught the reflection of his face in her rear end. I could not have planned it better, but then the photo gods always shine on those who wait. It says so in the good book.
